Welcome to my homepage, I'm Matthieu Cartigny. At the moment I'm working as a post-doc at the Sedimentology group of Utrecht University. More details on my research can be found on this page. My research interests focus on the interactional-processes of water and sediment in natural flows and their resulting deposits. Over the recent years I have developed a special interest for high-energy flows, and more specifically on the coupling between high-energy submarine flow, turbidity currents, and their deposits. To gain more insight into the enigmatic character of these high-energetic deep-marine flows, I combine physical and numerical experiments with outcrop and modern-day ocean floor data. Next to these submarine flows I also study other high-energy flows such as pyroclastic flows and jokulhlaupts.
