Books

The series 'Physical Geography of the Netherlands', first published in 1996-1997, was completely revised in 2005. All the books now contain a CD-ROM with powerpoint presentations, including all the figures from the books in colour.

These books can be ordered from any regular book store (e.g. Broese-Kemink), or alternatively, directly from the publisher (Van Gorcum). See the Rhine-Meuse Delta studies website for more books.

"Fysisch-geografisch onderzoek" contains a description of research methods, used in geology and physical geography. It gives a global perspective, and a regional description of sedimentary environments in the Netherlands.

Palaeogeographic development of the Rhine-Meuse delta gives an overview of the results of 40 years of research on the Holocene evolution of the Rhine-Meuse delta. It is based on an extensive database containing over 200,000 core descriptions, 1250 radiocarbon dates and over 45,000 dated archeological artifacts. The Holocene evolution is illustrated in a geological map (scale 1:100.000) of the entire fluvial delta, palaeogeographic maps, and an E-W cross section. The publication comes in a box (A4 size), containing the book, three colored maps and a CD-ROM.

Availability: Sold out per November 20, 2006. A CD-ROM with the complete contents of the book, including revised versions of the tables and printable versions of the coloured maps is now available from the authors, € 20,- (including shipping). The printed maps are still available separately. Digital (ArcGis and Freehand) versions of the maps are available upon request from the authors. Note that these are not free of charge.
