Activities of Tom Mullender

Development, improvement and maintenance
of paleomagnetic equipment

Tom Mullender, as our electronics technician, has designed, developed, built and improved numerous instruments for paleomagnetic and rock magnetic research. One of his highlights is his horizontal Curie balance design with a high sensitivity, enabling (sediment) samples to be measured without having to do magnetic extraction.

In addition, Tom programs - in almost any computer language or, if necessary, in firmware - the instrument and interpretation programs. 

One of his recent hobbies is the interpretative FORC program which elegantly processes and plots First Order Reversal Curves measurements.
