| The Black
Sea area (Dobrogea, Crimea, Caucasus) is one of the few areas on Earth
where long-term, lithospheric scale processes can be studied. There are
still many controversies regarding the evolution of this area, and paleomagnetism
can help to determine (timing of) plate tectonic movements.
We intend to use a
new approach to reliably determine paleolatitudes through model correction
of the inclination error, using TK03.GAD (Tauxe & Kent, 2004) for Mesozoic
sequences in the Crimea and Caucasus fold-and-thrust belts.

The research of Martijn
will focus on testing the TK03.GAD model with the (in due time ...) available
data, and comparing both real and synthetic datasets. The results will
aid the geodynamic reconstruction of the area by Maud
