The Faculty of Geosciences offers a wide spectrum of education and research concerning the Earth System, its biosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere, and the influence of mankind on these systems and vice versa. With a population of 2200 students (BSc and MSc) and 575 staff, the faculty is a strong and challenging organisation. The Faculty is organised in four departments: Earth Sciences, Physical Geography, Innovation and Environmental Sciences, and Human Geography, Urban & Regional Planning.
The Department of Earth Sciences conducts teaching and research across the full range of the solid and environmental Earth Sciences, with activities in almost all areas of biogeology, geochemistry, geology, geophysics and hydrogeology. Research is integrated into two major programmes, addressing the structure and dynamics of the planetary interior, the evolution of the lithosphere, the properties of Earth materials, as well as actuo- and paleo-environments and climates.
The Department of Earth Sciences is currently looking for a Ph.D. researcher in the field of biogeochemistry. Project title: “Sediment diagenesis in low oxygen marine settings”. Details.
